Our commitment to privacy and security

CHILL takes the personal information and privacy of its donors very seriously. Because of this, we aim to maintain the highest level of confidentiality concerning donor contact and financial information. We appreciate you trusting that we will do so carefully. This Privacy Policy explains our practices and choices you can make regarding the information that is collected and used by CHILL. It applies to donor and site visitor information hat we collect both online and offline. 

Our Privacy Policy also takes into account the new requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which means that if you are a resident of the European Union, your donor records and other data collected by CHILL, you may be entitled to certain additional protections.

What is collected by CHILL?

We collect information when you voluntarily submit it to us. For example, CHILL collects the following personal information from our donors: donor name, acknowledgement name, amount donates, address, telephone number, email address, and credit/debit card information. Providing this data is required in this context in order to process your donation. Personal information shared with our team may also be logged in a secure database in an effort to serve you as a supporter in need of resources. Note, donor transactions are processed through The Great Commission Foundation and not stored on CHILL servers.

In addition to the personal information, we may collect information about you automatically collected by the following technologies:

Web Server Logs. Our web servers may collect certain information such as IP addresses, pages visited, time visited, length of visits, and referring websites.

Cookies. Cookies are simple text files stored by your web browser that provide a method distinguishing you from other visitors to the site. CHILL uses cookies to identify your browser as you visit pages. 

Where do we transfer and store information? CHILL is a Canadian organization, however, our web servers are hosted in the United States and under the authority of US laws. Donations are processed through TGCF, a Canadian organization and processed in Canada. Although these two countries do not offer the same protection as countries in the European Union, we nevertheless comply with the protections in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

How do we use information?

We collect information primarily to accept donations, process online orders, complete our charitable programs, and provide you with information regarding programs, projects, and activities. We also use information for analytical purposes, to improve our website, our donor base, and our outreach. We may inform you of other purposes at the time we collect some forms of information.

With whom do we share information?

CHILL does not trade, share, or sell your information with any other organization or third parties who intend to use it to market their products or services to you.

We take data security seriously. To help prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard, secure, and encrypt the information we collect.

Accessing your data, and your choices

If you would like to access the data that we received from you, or to make corrections to it, you may contact us at the email or mailing list provided at the bottom of this policy.

If you registered to receive communications from us and later change your mind, you may ask that you name and contact information be removed from our email distribution list. You can send such a request to the email or mailing address at the end of this policy.

Additional Information

Behavioural Advertising. We may participate in behavioural-based advertising. That means that a third party may use technology like a “cookie” to collect information about your use on our website so that they can provide advertising about products and services tailored to your interest. That advertising may appear either on our website, or on other websites.

Links. Our website contains links to other websites. Please note, that when you click on one of these links, you are entering another site governed by that site’s privacy policy and security.

Changes to this privacy policy. We may modify this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this website. If we make a material change to this policy, and need to apply to persona information that you provided us before the change was made, we will attempt to contact you and obtain your consent to the change.
